Chatham is one of the 77 community areas of the city of Chicago, Illinois with a population of 32,490. Chatham is in Cook County, located on the city's South Side. It includes the neighborhoods of Chatham-Avalon, Chatham Club, Chesterfield, East Chatham, West Chatham and the northern portion of West Chesterfield. It straddles the busy Dan Ryan Expressway. As Chicago, and in particular the south side, has evolved and changed throughout the past half a century, Chatham has been one constant and remains as one of the most family-friendly neighborhoods in the area.
